Joshua Degani, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Degani was named CEO of IOPtima in November of 2006. He has been working in the development and management of lasers since 1976 and most recently served as Chief Operating Office and VP R&D for Curelight, which develops, manufactures and markets phototherapy products. Previously, he served as Vice President for Research and Development for Laser Industries (Sharplan) Ltd. which also specializes in the development, manufacture and marketing of laser medical devices and electro-optic systems.
Dr. Degani received his Ph.D. in laser physics from Hebrew University in 1979 and his B.Sc. from The Hebrew University in 1971.

 

Prof. Ehud Assia, MD – Chief Scientific Officer.
Dr. Assia has served as Chief Scientific Officer at IOPtima since its inception and is a co-inventor of its basic technology and method. He has published over a hundred peer-reviewed papers in leading professional journals and participates extensively in international meetings. In addition, he is the organizer of the Annual Conference of Ocular Microsurgery, the largest meeting in ophthalmology in Israel. Dr. Assia is a full professor at the Tel-Aviv University and was the Director of the Department of Ophthalmology between 1998 and 2002.
Dr. Assia received his MD from the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel-Aviv University (Magna Cum Laude) in 1980 and subsequently received a Masters degree in Ophthalmology (Summa Cum Laude) in 1989.

 

Ami Eyal, MD – Medical Director.
Dr. Eyal is the Medical Director of IOPtima. He has focused his career on investments in life sciences since 1999. Among the companies in which he has invested in and built are Can-Fite Ltd., Spectrum Dynamics Ltd., Raffael Medical Ltd., C-Beyond Ltd., and others. Dr. Eyal is the co-founder and partner of Bio-Medical Strategy, a new company specializing in Israeli regulatory affairs and clinical trials.
Dr. Eyal received his MD from Tel-Aviv University in 1987 and became Board Certified in general surgery at the Tel-Aviv Medical Center in 1996.

 
 

Assaf Gur – Vice President – Research and Development. 
Before joining IOPtima, Mr. Gur served as Product Development Manager at Topspin Medical Ltd. – a company developing an Intra-Vascular MRI (IVMRI) catheter for the coronary arteries. Prior to that position, he served as R&D Manager of the Lithotripsy Division at Initia Ltd.
Mr. Gur holds a B.Sc. degree in software engineering and industrial management from the Tel-Aviv Engineering Colleague and is progressing towards his M.Sc. in Bio-Medical Engineering at the Tel Aviv University.

 

Dan Peres, MD – Chief Operating Officer. 
Dr. Peres has been a certified physician since the year of 2000 when he graduated from the Sackler School of Medicine of the Tel-Aviv University.   Prior to his role as Chief Operating Officer at IOPtima, Dr. Peres was employed by the Israeli affiliate of an international pharmaceutical company as a Medical Advisor. Dr. Peres began his career as a physician and medical director in various roles in the Israeli army.
Dr. Peres brings to the Company his medical expertise and extensive experience in process management.
